Nandan Gautam is a composer, musician, writer and yoga teacher based in Azerbaijan.
Born and raised in Bangalore, India, he studied Liberal Arts at McDaniel College in Maryland, USA, before returning to India to spend the next two decades studying yoga and meditation under Bharat Thakur.
His musical work draws on influences as diverse as jazz, world music, rock, contemporary composition and improvisation. Rather than remaining within a single genre, his music explores the spaces where different traditions meet and evolve into something new.
Over the years, he has collaborated with artists including Antonio Sanchez, Rainer Brüninghaus, Tom Schuman and Chad Wackerman — musicians whose work formed part of his own listening journey long before they became collaborators.
In addition to his music, Nandan is the author of A Lie and a Truth and The King of the Sea, and serves as CEO of Bharat Thakur’s Artistic Yoga.
His latest album, ONE, is a 45-minute continuous musical work unfolding across eight connected parts.
